Now days, an ever-increasing list of tasks is becoming more automated. From the markets, banks, healthcare and even personal devices. The reason why it is becoming more and more prevalent is because it saves time and resources, freeing up a team to focus more on their core business without getting bogged down. With this in mind, what exactly is RPA and why should you consider using it?

What is RPA?
RPA is an acronym for ‘Robotic Process Automation’. What it does is allows a team to take tasks that, although necessary, tend to be tedious and tie up valuable time that could be spent on your core business goals. RPA can automate tasks in HR, finance, make sense of analytics to make your online digital experience more relevant to your client base. There are many tools and approaches that can be used to accomplish this, however, in this article we will consider the toolset from Microsoft called Microsoft Power Automate.

What is Microsoft Power Automate?
This tool, formally known as Microsoft Flow, has been improved to include more RPA functionality that allows a team to automate many tasks across their company infrastructure using little to no code. It can interact with apps, APIs and more. In addition to this, it allows control of the automation process through a single cloud-based app. Another advantage to consider, especially if your company primarily uses Microsoft products, is how it integrates into the existing Microsoft ecosystem, allowing a more seamless management experience as compared to trying to automate using several tools. Some of its key features are:

  • Leverage a low code experience with a step by step record and play back experience
  • Automate in a single cloud-based platform
  • Automate apps that have APIs and even automate those that do not have services/APIs. The list of connectors is 340 and growing
  • Easy to use user interface

Another feature that we really like at HSL, is the inclusion of AI into the platform, allowing you to build your own AI models to ensure that your automated processes are both reliable and efficient. In the next series of articles on Power Automate and RPA, we will go into specific examples that we use and have used to demonstrate why you would only benefit using this in your business.
